Trivia

    Album

  • This film was a spiritual successor to "Malamaal Weekly" (2006). Although the films had independent storylines, they had several cast and crew members in common including writer, director Priyadarshan, and actors Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Asrani, Shakti Kapoor, and Sona Nair.[1]
  • The film was a remake of the Malayalam film "Marykkundoru Kunjaadu" (2010).
  • Several Christian groups took offence to a few scenes in this film which, they believed, showed Christianity in poor light. The groups demanded that these scenes be removed from the film. They sought the removal of the Censor Board Chief Leela Samson and the transfer of the Censor Board CEO Pankaja Thakur. They also demanded representation for their community on the Censor Board to curtail such content in the future. The film's producers gave in to the demands for censorship and removed the scenes in the film that were deemed offensive. Another Hindi film, "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" (2012), had angered Christian groups in the country just a few months before this film's release.[2][3][4][5]
  • Director Priyadarshan was deeply affected by the failure of this film. He admitted that the film was a mistake and should never have been made. The director decided that he would take a break from Hindi films after his upcoming release "Rangrezz" (2013), and focus on Malayalam films.[6][7]
