Trivia

    Album

  • The idea for this film came from a scripting workshop organised by Mira Nair in Uganda to mentor students from various parts of the world. At the workshop, Vishal Bhardwaj came across a film script written by a young Kenyan named Cajetan Boy. Bhardwaj liked the script so much that he purchased it from Boy, worked on it with his team and developed it into this film.[1]
  • The title of this film was inspired by Gulzar's film "Ijaazat" (1986) in which Naseeruddin Shah's character used "kameeni" as a term of endearment for Rekha's character.[2][3]
  • Amol Gupte appeared as an actor in this film after a very long time. The last film he had acted in was "Kaafila" (1990).

    Song

  • Dhan Te Nan - Vishal Bhardwaj had composed the tune of this film song almost a decade earlier for the Zee TV serial "Gubbare" (1999-2000).[4]
  • Dhan Te Nan - With "Kuttey" (2023), the directorial debut of Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj's son Aaamaan Bhardwaj, the banner logo of Vishal Bhardwaj Films started using the trumpet solo used originally in this song as its theme music.[5]
  • Fatak - The lyrics of the second antara of this song were inspired by a couplet written by Jigar Moradabadi - "Yeh ishq nahin aasaan bas itna samajh leeje / Ik aag kaa darya hai aur doob ke jaana hai".
