Trivia

    Album

  • This film was an adaptation of the Kannada novel "Kannayya Rama" by S.K. Nadig. It was released in Kannada and Hindi with the same title.
  • When Shabana Azmi's work in this film came under heavy criticism, she defended herself by saying that she was not even supposed to work in it. She claimed that she had signed up for it to bail out director M.S. Sathyu when Smita Patil had walked out of the film. According to Shabana, Patil had reneged on her commitment to Sathyu, citing a conflict with her exams. Patil had later signed up for "Manthan" (1976), which Shabana Azmi was supposed to do. Smita Patil had refuted Azmi's version of events. "Exams had nothing to do with it. The roles were switched quite amicably. Anyway, I don't even remember the details, and I don't want to enter into a controversy with Shabana. As it is, we are not great pals.", she was quoted as saying in India Today.[1][2]
