Trivia

    Album

  • The film's premise was inspired by the Hollywood romantic comedy "Come September" (1961). Like the original, its story involved a rich man taking a vacation to visit his bungalow in a tourist town to find out that his manager has converted the bungalow into a hotel and is renting it out to a group of girls. The film "Mere Sanam" (1965) also had the same premise.[1]
  • The film's star Shammi Kapoor had recommended using music director Shankar - Jaikishan to director Shakti Samanta. However, when O.P. Nayyar invited Samanta and played him some tunes, the filmmaker could not refuse them and signed him on for the film. Of the songs he selected, some remained unused and were used later for "Sawan Ki Ghata" (1966).[2][3]
  • This was actress Sharmila Tagore's debut Hindi film.

    Song

  • Taarif Karoon Kya Uski (Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra) - Pandit Shivkumar Sharma played the santoor in this song.[4]
  • Taarif Karoon Kya Uski (Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra) - While this song was being recorded, Shammi Kapoor had a vision of how he wanted to present it in the film and asked music director O.P. Nayyar if the lines of the mukhda could be repeated a few times in the end. Nayyar rejected the suggestion saying that it would make the song unnecessarily long and boring. Singer Mohammed Rafi intervened at this point and suggested that they incorporate Shammi Kapoor's suggestion and take it only if it sounded good. When O.P. Nayyar saw the filmed version of the song, he acknowledged that Shammi Kapoor's idea did make a big, positive impact.[MR15]
  • Hai Duniya Usi Ki Zamana Usi Ka - The saxophone solo in this song was played by Manohari Singh. According to him, this was the first time he played the saxophone for O.P. Nayyar. A delighted Nayyar handed Singh a hundred rupee note after the recording and asked him to have whiskey![5]
  • Balma Khuli Hawa Mein - The song was removed from the film due to the Censor Board's objections.
  • Diwana Hua Baadal - This song featured some exemplary musicians - Ustad Rais Khan on the sitar, Pandit Ram Narayan on sarangi, and Isaac David on mandolin.[MR10]
