Trivia

    Album

  • This was Akshay Kumar's breakthrough film and established him as one of the leading actors of the time. This film also established the "Khiladi" franchise Akshay came to be associated with for the rest of his film career. The other films in the "Khiladi" series were "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" (1994), "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (1995), "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" (1996), "Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi" (1997), "International Khiladi" (1999), "Khiladi 420" (2000) and "Khiladi 786" (2012).[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
  • The plot of this film may have been inspired by the Hindi film "Khel Khel Mein" (1975), which in turn was inspired by the novel "Les Mauvaises Frequentations" by the French writer Louis C. Thomas. This film was remade in Kannada as "Aata Hudugaata" (1995).[8][9]
  • This was the first hit film of the director duo Abbas - Mustan.
  • The music label Venus entered film production with this film.
  • Akshay Kumar was not the first choice for this film. This opportunity came to him only after Arbaaz Khan had declined to work in the film. Ayesha Jhulka too was selected only after Pooja Bedi had passed it over.

    Song

  • Khud Ko Kya Samajhti Hai - This song was inspired by the song "99 Luftballons" (1983) by the German band Nena. Encouraged by its popularity, the band released an English version in 1984 titled "99 Red Balloons".[10]
