Trivia

    Album

  • This film was loosely adapted from a 1980 film of the same title. The original film was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and featured Rekha and Rakesh Roshan in lead roles. The titles of the two films were spelt slightly differently. The original film was also remade in Malayalam as "Vannu Kandu Keezhadakki" (1985) and in Tamil as "Lakshmi Vandhachu" (1986).[1]
  • This was the debut Hindi film of the Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
  • Sonam Kapoor's character in the film was not named Anju, the name of Rekha's character in the original film. Sonam, along with director Shashanka Ghosh and producer Rhea Kapoor, decided to name her character after the eponymous character of another Hrishikesh Mukherjee film - "Mili" (1975). Sonam explained that they had done so since she had portrayed her character in the film very differently from Rekha in the original film.[2][3]

    Song

  • Anjan Ki Seeti Mein Mharo Bum Dole - This was Sneha Khanwalkar's adaptation of a popular Rajasthani folk song. The song's original lyricist Ikram Rajasthani re-wrote the lyrics for this version. Anu Malik had also adapted the same folk song for the film "Maa" (1992).[4][5][6]
  • Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai - Singer-composer Badshah made a cameo appearance in the film for this song. It was used in the end credits. This was Badshah's debut Hindi film song.
  • Jo Main Janti Ki Preet Kare Dukh Hoye - Sneha Khanwalkar made this song for a person who had "very badly hurt" her. Without giving the specifics, she said that this person's name was in the song's lyrics.[7]
  • Jo Main Janti Ki Preet Kare Dukh Hoye - This was Jasleen Royal's first Hindi film song.
  • Jo Main Janti Ki Preet Kare Dukh Hoye - The mukhda of this song was taken from a doha written by Meerabai. The same doha was used in a few other Hindi film songs including "Koi Dil Na Kisi Se Lagaye" ("Nakhre", 1951), "Mohe Bhool Gaye Saanwariya" ("Baiju Bawra", 1952) and "Jo Main Aisa Janti Preet Kiye Dukh Hoy" ("Batwara", 1989).[8][9][10]
