Trivia

    Album

  • This film may have been inspired by the Bengali film "Mohunbaganer Meye" (1976). Utpal Dutt played the elderly father of the hero in both the films. In "Mohunbaganer Meye", his character insisted that his son marry a girl who was a fan of the Mohun Bagan football team. In this film, his character insisted on his son marrying a traditional girl who does not speak English.
  • The producers of this film, Jayant Pathare and Ashok Rawat, were long-time associates of director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Jayant Pathare's association with Hrishikesh Mukherjee went back to almost the beginning of their Hindi film careers. He was the cinematographer of many of the director's films including "Anari" (1959), "Anand" (1971) and "Abhimaan" (1973). Ashok Rawat had been Hrishikesh Mukherjee's assistant director in many films including "Alaap" (1977), "Gol Maal" (1979) and "Jurmaana" (1979).
