Trivia

    Album

  • The film premiered at the Mumbai Film Festival in October 2016. It was released in theatres in July 2017 and its music was released the same month.
  • This was Pakistani artist Zebunnissa Bangash's debut Hindi film as a music director.
  • There were speculations that Alankrita Shrivastava had a fallout with Prakash Jha after the failure of her directorial debut "Turning 30" (2010), which Jha had produced. Both Shrivastava and Jha had denied these rumours at the time. This was their first film together after "Turning 30" (2010).[1][2]
  • The CBFC refused to certify the film and asked the filmmakers to approach the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). In a letter to the makers of the film, they said, "The story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contanious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society, hence film refused under guidelines.". Director Alankrita Shrivastava strongly objected to the CBFC's decision and characterised it as an "assault on women's rights". She approached the FCAT offering some voluntary cuts in the film. The FCAT cleared the film with an 'A' rating after accepting the offered cuts, asking for the removal of the word "prostitute", and marginally reducing the length of some sex scenes.[3][4]
  • The idea for the film was conceived in 2012. It was one of the six films selected for NFDC's Screenwriters' Lab that year.
  • This was a rare Hindi film that had an all-female music crew - the three songs in the film were composed, written and sung by women.

    Song

  • Jigi Jigi - This song appears to be an adaptation of an Afghan folk song by Haji Saifo.[5]
