Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by the short story "The Last Leaf" (1907) written by O. Henry.
  • A musical piece used in this film's teaser bore similarities with a theme composed by Rachel Portman for the score of the Hollywood film "One Day" (2011). The tune was also used in the song "Shikayatein" in the film. Amit Trivedi acknowledged the similarity between his composition and Rachel Portman's but denied charges of plagiarism. He even contacted Rachel Portman to apprise her of the controversy.[1]
  • Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya had started his film career aspiring to be a playback singer. However, he found success as a lyricist and his desire to sing for films took a backseat. With a solo song and three other songs, this film was the closest he came to fulfilling his playback singing ambitions.[2]
  • This was the first film produced under the Phantom Films banner. The production house was started as a "director's company" in 2011 by Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. Reliance Entertainment picked up a 50% stake in Phantom in 2015. Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane distanced themselves from the production house in 2018 after Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual harassment by an employee. In 2021, Madhu Mantena bought out the stakes of Bahl, Kashyap, and Motwane. As a result of this transaction, Phantom became a 50-50 joint venture between Mantena's new company Mad Man Ventures and Reliance Entertainment.[3]
  • The film's release was delayed by almost a year. It was originally scheduled to be released in October 2012. However, it was released only in July 2013.[4]

    Song

  • Sanwaar Loon - Amit Trivedi composed this song as a tribute to one of his favourite composers, S.D. Burman. The Bihu beats used in this song are similar to what Burman had employed in many of his compositions.
