Trivia

    Album

  • Shoojit Sarkar had conceived this film seven years before it finally got made. It was initially titled "Jaffna". Sarkar had narrated the film's script to John Abraham at the time but nothing had materialised out of their discussion. They eventually collaborated for the hit film "Vicky Donor" (2012), which John produced and Shoojit directed. When the two talked about collaborating again, they thought of going back to the project they had discussed years ago.[1][2]
  • This was the first film in which actress Nargis Fakhri delivered her own lines. Since she played the role of a European journalist, she had only English dialogues in the film. Fakhri bagged the role only after Freida Pinto had declined it.[3][4]
  • The film was inspired by the true events surrounding the conspiracy hatched by the militant organisation Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to assassinate Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The film faced protests from Tamil nationalist groups who alleged that it had shown the struggle of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka in poor light. Distributors in South India refused to screen the film fearing adverse reaction to it.[5]
  • This was actress Raashi Khanna's debut film. Her Hindi film career did not take off but she built a successful acting career in Telugu films.
  • Journalist and news anchor Dibang debuted as an actor in this film.

    Song

  • Ajnabi - This was Pakistani artist Zebunnisa Bangash's first Hindi film song.
