Trivia

    Album

  • This film was a remake of the super-hit Kannada film "Shankar Guru" (1978) starring Rajkumar. The Kannada film was also remade in Telugu as "Kumara Raja" (1978) starring Krishna and in Tamil as "Thirisoolam" (1979) starring Sivaji Ganesan.
  • One of the characters Amitabh Bachchan played in this film was a ventriloquist. Bachchan had developed the desire to play the role of a ventriloquist in a film after he had seen Ramdas Padhye perform at the 1982 Filmfare Awards function. In fact, it was Padhye who designed and operated the puppet used in this film. Padhye went on to help incorporate ventriloquism in many other films including the Hindi film "Dil Hai Tumhaara" (2002). His father Y.K. Padhye was one of the pioneers of ventriloquism in India and was credited as the ventriloquist in the film "Akeli Mat Jaiyo" (1963).[1][2][3]
  • Singer S.P. Balasubramaniam was listed in the opening credits of this film, but he did not have any song in the audio release. Replying to a question by reporter R.M. Vijayakar, Balasubramaniam clarified that he had sung for the film's title music. However, the title theme features a chorus, and Balasubramaniam's voice is not discernible.[4]

    Song

  • Ye Din To Aata Hai - R.D. Burman wrongly sang "Ye Dil To Aata Hai Ek Dil Jawani Mein" in the song, using "dil" instead of "din".
  • Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli - The prominent synthesiser riff in this song was played by Kersi Lord.[5]
  • Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli - This song was re-created by Krsna for the film "Tamanchey" (2014). The re-created version sampled vocals from this song and used the tune of its mukhda in addition to its original antaras.[6]
  • Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli - Shemaroo, which had acquired the rights to this film from its producers Satya Chitra International, had filed a petition to restrain the screening of the film "Tamanchey" (2014) claiming that the use of this song in it infringed their copyright. The producers of "Tamanchey" (2014) claimed that they were within their rights to use this song based on an agreement they had entered into with the music label, Universal. The court had ruled that Universal did have the right to permit the use of this song by others and refused to stop the screening of "Tamanchey" (2014) stating that the petition was delayed unnecessarily.[7][8]
  • Jidhar Dekhoon Teri Tasveer Nazar Aati Hai - II - This version of the song, sung by and filmed on Amitabh Bachchan, was removed from the film in its later releases.
