Trivia

    Album

  • The film was based on the legend of Rani Padmini of Mewar. She supposedly lived during the 13th and 14th centuries and was first talked about in Malik Muhammad Jayasi's 16th-century poem "Padmavat". The film opened with "an apology" - "The history of a slave-country is got written by its rulers. Thus, facts travel more convincingly to us through bards (sonnets) sung by singers and incidents narrated by word-of-mouth. Therefore, relying upon aforesaid sources, we have bridged over certain prejudices of history-dictators and flattery made by historians so as to treat this subject purely on logical lines.".

    Song

  • Naina Re Dekhe Unke Nain - Lyricist D.N. Madhok had used the same mukhda earlier for a song in the film "Bhakta Surdas" (1942).[1]
