Trivia

    Album

  • This was director A.C. Trilokchander's Hindi remake of his hit Tamil film "Naanum Oru Penn" (1963), which was based on Sailesh Dey's Bengali play "Bodhu". Trilokchander also remade the Tamil film in Telugu as "Naadi Aada Janme" (1965). The prominent South Indian character actor S.V. Ranga Rao played the same role in the film's three versions. Not considering dubbed films, this was his first Hindi film appearance.
  • This was the first film release in which Meena Kumari and Dharmendra worked together. However, according to Vinod Mehta's biography of her, the first film they signed was "Purnima" (1965). Meena Kumari mentored the young actor in his early years and was very supportive of him. She was quoted as saying "This boy will rise. He is not the routine entry.". They parted ways after rumours of a tempestuous romantic relationship between them gained credence but remained friendly afterwards. "Baharon Ki Manzil" (1968) was their last film together.[1][2][MR51]
  • Meena Kumari wore makeup in the film to simulate the appearance of a woman with a dark complexion.

    Song

  • Chanda Se Hoga Woh Pyara - This song used the tune of the song "Poopola Poopola Pirakkum" from the Tamil film "Naanum Oru Penn" (1963), of which this film was a remake. The original song was composed by R. Sudarsanam and sung by T.M. Soundararajan and P. Susheela.[3]
