Trivia

    Album

  • Shammi Kapoor debuted as a director in this film. He also had an acting role in it. He directed just one more film after this - "Bundal Baaz" (1976).[1]
  • This film was based on the popular Hollywood romantic comedy "Irma La Douce" (1963) starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Shammi Kapoor had wanted to work in its remake ever since he saw the film in London and had wanted to play the role played by Jack Lemmon in the original. However, as his age progressed, he realised that he was too old to play this role. He, therefore, decided to direct the remake with Sanjeev Kumar in Jack Lemmon's role. The American film itself was based on a French musical play of the same name written by Marguerite Monnot and Alexandre Breffort in 1956.

    Song

  • Dulhan Maike Chali - This was the only song composed by R.D. Burman which featured the three Mangeshkar sisters, Lata, Asha, and Usha, together. His father S.D Burman also used the three sisters together in just one song - "Mubarak Hai Woh Dil Jisko" ("Benazir", 1964).[2]
  • Aaya Hoon Main Tujhko Le Jaaoonga - Portions of this song used the tune of the lyricless track "After Sunrise" by the Brazilian band Sergio Mendes & Brasil '77. Asha Bhosle's "la la la.." vocalisations were, in fact, lifted directly from this track.[3]
