Trivia

    Album

  • This film was an adaptation of Shakespeare's play "Macbeth". This was the first film in Vishal Bhardwaj's film series of Shakespeare adaptations. The other films in the series were "Omkara" (2006), based on "Othello", and "Haider" (2014), based on "Hamlet".[1][2]
  • Vishal Bhardwaj had originally considered Kamal Haasan for the film's titular role. Bhardwaj approached Kamal to discuss the film despite Naseeruddin Shah's reservations about casting him in the lead role. These discussions didn't pan out since the director was not in agreement with Kamal's vision for the film - the actor wanted the film to be shot simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil.[3]

    Song

  • Rukhe Naina - The sarangi in this song was played by Ustad Sultan Khan.
