Album

• This film may have been inspired by the Marathi play "Ashroonchi Zhali Phule" by Vasant Kanetkar. The Hindi film "Ansoo Ban Gaye Phool" (1969) was also adapted from the same play.[1]
• This film gave Anil Kapoor's career a significant boost. He signed two films on the night of its premiere - "Meri Jung" (1985) and "Janbaaz" (1986).[2][3][4]
• Anil Kapoor was initially given a small role in this film. Yash Chopra later cast him in a key role based on the recommendation of Javed Akhtar who wrote the film. The actor ended up winning the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film.[5]
• Yash Chopra's long-time cinematographer Kay Gee and his assistant T. Kishan passed away during the making of this film. The film opened with a tribute to the two cinematographers.

Song

• Holi Aayee Re - Hridaynath Mangeshkar based this song on the tune of his own Marathi hit "Jambhul Pikalya Zadakhali" ("Jait Re Jait", 1977). The Marathi original was sung by Asha Bhosle and Ravindra Sathe.[6]
