Trivia

    Album

  • This film appears to be an uncredited adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's play "Mr. Puntila and his Man Matti" which was written in 1940 and first performed in 1948. Pankaj Kapur had performed in this play when he was a student at the National School of Drama. He had played Mr. Puntilla in the play, the equivalent of his role in the film.[1]
  • Imran Khan wasn't director Vishal Bhardwaj's first choice for this film. Bhardwaj opted for Imran when Ajay Devgan and Shahid Kapoor turned down the film due to other commitments.[2]
  • There were rumours that Imran Khan had an affair with Lekha Washington that started during the making of this film. Washington made a cameo appearance in the film. The affair reportedly caused a rift in Khan's marriage with Avantika Malik.[3]
  • As the brand ambassador of the state of Gujarat, Amitabh Bachchan helped Vishal Bhardwaj get the permissions required to shoot in a haveli owned by a royal family. His help was acknowledged in the film's opening credits.[4]
