Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on Ashapoorna Devi's Bengali novel "Jog Biyog". The novel was also adapted for a Bengali film of the same title released in 1953, the Tamil film "Padikkadha Medhai" (1960), the Telugu film "Aatma Bandhuvu" (1962), and the Kannada film "Baala Bandana" (1971). The Pakistani film "Sajib Jee" (1983), the Tamil film "Per Sollum Pillai" (1987) starring Kamal Haasan, the Hindi film "Swarg" (1989), and the Telugu film "Indra Bhavanam" (1991) also had similar plots.[1]

    Song

  • Sawan Ki Raat Kaari Kaari - The jury for the Sur Singar Samsad Awards had originally decided to confer R.D. Burman the Best Classical Film Song award for the song "O Ganga Maiya Paar Laga De" ("Chandan Ka Palna", 1967). Some last-minute politicking, however, led to the jury giving the award to Ravi instead for this song.[2][MR4]
