Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on Gulshan Nanda's novel "Sisakte Saaz". The book itself was said to be partly based on the life of Khemchand Prakash, who went from being a court musician to a Hindi film composer.
  • This film was followed by another film, "Kudrat" (1981), which had the same theme of reincarnation, and featured actors Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini.[1]

    Song

  • Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon (Female) - This song featured two Mysore landmarks - the Mysore Palace and Brindavan Gardens. Other scenes in the film were also shot at the palace.
  • Parbat Ke Peechhe Chambe Da Gaon - The tune of this song's mukhda was probably inspired by a Punjabi Boliyan song popularised by folk singers Surinder Kaur and Parkash Kaur - "Saade Taan Vede Vich".
  • Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon (Male) - Kishore Kumar was unwilling to sing this song since he felt that he wouldn't be able to do justice to a song that had such strong classical influences. He relented on R.D. Burman's insistence but said that he would record it only after he had heard Lata Mangeshkar sing the same song. It was only after studying Lata's version of the song that Kishore recorded his version.
