Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by the Frank Capra film "Lady for a Day" (1933), which he remade later as "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961). Hrishikesh Mukherjee himself remade this film as "Achha Bura" (1983) more than 20 years later. The role of Shera played by Jayant in this film was played by his son Amjad Khan in the remake.[1]

    Song

  • Bachpan O Bachpan Pyare Bachpan - The tune of this song was adapted from the nursery rhyme "A Tisket A Tasket", best remembered for the version recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1938. The same tune was also used by Anu Malik for the song "Ladna Jhagadna" ("Duplicate", 1998). "A Tisket A Tasket" may have also inspired the Hindi film songs "Beech Bajariya Paaon Pakad Kar" ("Madmast", 1953) and "Kaun Hoon Main Kya Naam Hai Mera" ("Dard Ka Rishta", 1983).[2][3][4][5]
  • Bhula De Zindagi Ke Gham - Salil Chowdhury and Shailendra had collaborated earlier, in 1957, for a different version of this song. This version was titled "Tu Zinda Hai To Zindagi Ki Jeet Mein Yakeen Kar" and was performed by the Bombay Youth Choir. Two versions of the song with different second antaras were recorded for the film. One version was used in the film's opening credits and the other was released on music records.
  • Beta Wow Wow Wow Mere Kaan Mat Khao - The song not only had the word "wow" in its lyrics suggesting a dog's woof but also had actual dog woofs in sync with the music. The song was filmed on actress Tanuja and a dog. The film's director Hrishikesh Mukherjee was a well-known dog lover. The September 1977 issue of the Cine Blitz magazine carried a profile of him and his many pet dogs titled "Hrishi-da in a house full of bitches".[MR43]
  • Beta Wow Wow Wow Mere Kaan Mat Khao - The tune of the song's mukhda was inspired by the song "Mama, Teach Me to Dance" (1956) written by Al Hoffman and Dick Manning. The original song is best known for the version recorded by Eydie Gorme.[6]
