- The film was director A. Subba Rao's remake of his own award-winning Telugu film "Mooga Manasulu" (1964). The Hindi remake featured Jamuna reprising her role in the original film. The Telugu film was also remade in Tamil as "Praptham" (1971).
- The film opened with a narration of its premise. While the narrator announced the names of its lead actors, Sunil Dutt, Nutan, and Jamuna, the remaining cast was listed in the opening credits that followed the narration.
