Trivia

    Album

  • Two celebrated authors were involved in the writing of this film - Suketu Mehta and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra's brother-in-law, Vikram Chandra. Suketu Mehta is best known for his book "Maximum City" (2004) and Vikram Chandra for "Sacred Games" (2006). This was their only Hindi film.
  • This was director Rajkumar Hirani's first big break in Hindi films. He was the film's editor.
  • Sanjay Dutt and Hrithik Roshan had written many of their scenes in this film themselves.[1]
  • This film was initially titled "Mission Kashmiriyat".[2]

    Song

  • Bumbro - Shantiveer Kaul, the son of the Kashmiri poet Dinanath Nadim, sent a legal notice alleging copyright infringement to the producer and director of the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Kaul alleged that the lyrics of this song had been taken without permission from his father's work "Bombur ta Yemberzal", considered the first Kashmiri opera. The song in the opera was composed by Mohan Lal Aima and was adapted from a Chakri folk tune. The same folk song was used by music director Vishal Mishra for a song in the film "Notebook" (2019).[3][4][5][6]
  • Rind Posh Maal - Music directors Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa appeared on the screen for this song.
