Trivia

    Album

  • The film was a long time in the making. Director Amit Kumar had conceived it as a short film in the 1990s when he was studying at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). After passing out from FTII in 1997, Kumar assisted Asif Kapadia for the film "The Warrior" (2001). In 2003, he directed Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the critically-acclaimed short film "The Bypass". Encouraged by its success, Kumar pitched the idea of this film to the UK Film Council, which had co-produced the short film. However, the British government decided to dissolve the UK Film Council in 2010 before the project could take off. The film was eventually made with a different set of producers. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2013 and was certified in September 2013. It was released in theatres only in December 2017.[1]
  • Nawazuddin Siddiqui got embroiled in a controversy following the release of his memoir "An Ordinary Life". The book had a section in which Siddiqui had talked about his romantic relationships with Niharika Singh and Sunita Rajwar. His revelation was seen as an invasion of the actresses' privacy. Siddiqui withdrew his book as a result of the outrage over it. It was reported that the actor was attempting to makeover his image after this episode. As a part of this exercise, he refused to associate himself with any project in which he had a negative role. It was reported that Siddiqui did not promote this film since he was playing a serial killer in it.[2][3]
