• This was Raghav Dar's directorial debut. It was the first time Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced a film he did not direct.
• Raghav Dar had written the film's lead role with Prateik Babbar in mind. The two had developed a friendship after working together for the film "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" (2008). Prateik had acted in the film and Dar was an assistant director in it.[1][2]
• Kalki Koechlin landed the lead role in this film as a result of an interaction with director Raghav Dar on Twitter. She had taken to the social media platform to express her frustration at being offered only dark films and her desire to do a happy film. Dar had replied to her that he had a script for her and asked her if she would be interested in reading it. Kalki read the script, liked it, and agreed to do the film.[3]

• Tu Taare Se Toota Hai - This was music director Hitesh Sonik and singer Sunidhi Chauhan's first song together. They were childhood friends who went on to get married in 2012. This was Sunidhi's second marriage. She had married choreographer Bobby Khan when she was 18 years old and had divorced him just a year later.
