Trivia

    Album

  • While singing up for the hero's role in this film, Kishore Kumar had assumed that he would be singing for himself and was dismayed when he found out that music director Salil Chowdhury had planned for Hemant Kumar to sing for his character. Even after a lot of lobbying by Kishore, the music director remained unconvinced of his singing abilities. His advisors, however, convinced him to let Kishore sing. Salil Chowdhury eventually changed his opinion about Kishore and recorded many hit songs with him.[MR4]

    Song

  • Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga (Happy) - Salil Chowdhury reused the tune of this song for the Malayalam film song "Onnanam Kunninmel" ("Air Hostess", 1980), sung by Yesudas and Vani Jayaram.[1]
  • Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga (Happy) - The audio records for this song credited Usha Mangeshkar for the female voice at the end of this song. However, according to Salil Chowdhury's wife Sabita, the voice was that of a singer called Shaila Belle, affiliated with the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA).[2]
  • Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga (Happy) - Milon Gupta played the harmonica in this song.
  • Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga (Happy) - Salil Chowdhury's inspiration for this song came from a Nepali folk song. Chowdhury was on a visit to Kathmandu when he overheard a guard at his hotel humming this song.[3]
  • Arzi Hamari Yeh Marzi Hamari - The sound of the typewriter in this song was created by ace percussionist Cawas Lord on a real typewriter. Salil Chowdhury was inspired by a musical piece called "The Typewriter" (1950) composed by Leroy Anderson to incorporate a real typewriter into this song.[4]
  • Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga (Sad) - This song version was used as a background musical piece in the film's concluding part but was not issued on music records.
