Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first film in which actor Harihar Jethalal Jariwala used the screen name Sanjeev Kumar. It was also his first film in a lead role. He had previously made an uncredited debut in "Hum Hindustani" (1960) and had appeared in "Aao Pyar Karen" (1964) using the screen name Sanjay.[1][2]
  • The film was based on the novel "The Prisoner Of Zenda" (1894) by Anthony Hope or on one of its many adaptations. The novel was adapted by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay for the Bengali novel "Jhinder Bondi" on which the 1961 film of the same title was based. Uttam Kumar, who starred in "Jhinder Bondi" (1961), appeared in another adaptation of the same story, "Bandie" (1977), a bilingual film released in Hindi and Bengali. The Hindi film "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (2015) also had the same premise.[3][4]

    Song

  • Aapki Adaon Pe Fida Dil Mera - The tune of this song's mukhda was taken from the musical piece "Baby Elephant Walk" composed by Henry Mancini for the American film "Hatari!" (1962). Mancini won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement for this piece.[5]
  • Saqiya Thodi Thodi Bekhudi Hai - The tune of the song's mukhda was taken from "Siboney", a song composed by the Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona in 1927. The original Spanish language song was covered by many artists over the years.[6]
