Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on the Hindi play "Kishan Vs Kanhaiya" which in turn was based on the Gujarati play "Kanji Viruddh Kanji". Paresh Rawal who played the lead role in this film had played the same role in "Kishan Vs Kanhaiya". The Gujarati play itself was adapted from the Australian comedy film "The Man Who Sued God" (2001). The Hindi film was remade in Telugu as "Gopala Gopala" (2015) and in Kannada as "Mukunda Murari" (2016).
  • Several Hindu groups, including Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena, considered this film anti-religious and called for its ban. There were instances of the film's posters being torn down and the effigy of the film's director Umesh Shukla being burnt. As a result of these protests, the film was not released in a number of cities.[1][2]

    Song

  • Don't Worry (Hey Ram) - This song sampled an electric guitar riff from R.D. Burman's hit song "Dum Maaro Dum" ("Hare Rama Hare Krishna", 1971).[3]
  • Hari Bol - This song was the Hindi version of a song that originally appeared in the popular Gujarati play "Kanji Viruddh Kanji" on which this film was based. Sachin - Jigar had composed the music for the play and recorded this song for the film.[4]
  • Go Go Govinda (Reprise) - Prabhu Deva and Sonakshi Sinha made a cameo appearance in the film performing a dance for this song. In the middle of the song, Paresh Rawal's character looks at the dance performance and says "Abe yeh rowdy hai. Mera Rathore baaju ki gali mein hai.". This line was a reference to the film "Rowdy Rathore" (2012) which was directed by Prabhu Deva and featured Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.[5]
  • Go Go Govinda (Reprise) - This was the debut Hindi film song of singer Aman Trikha,
