    Album

  • The film was Vishal Bhardwaj's adaption of William Shakespeare's "Othello". This was the second film in Vishal's film series of Shakespeare adaptations. The other films in the series were "Maqbool" (2004), based on "Macbeth", and "Haider" (2014), based on "Hamlet".[1][2]
  • Before embarking on this film, director Vishal Bhardwaj had discussed its concept with Aamir Khan and received encouragement from him. In fact, Aamir Khan was interested in playing the role of Langda Tyagi that eventually went to Saif Ali Khan.[3]
  • Two other names were considered for this film's title - "Issak" and "O Saathi Re".[4]

    Song

  • O Saathi Re - This was the first Hindi film song sung by Vishal Bhardwaj.
  • Beedi Jalaile Jigar Se Piya - This song was used for the opening sequence of the very popular Brazilian TV show "Caminho das Indias" that aired in 2009.[5][6]
