Trivia

    Album

  • This was one of the four films directed by Manmohan Desai that were released in 1977. The other three films were "Chacha Bhatija" (1977), "Dharam-Veer" (1977) and "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977). Delayed by the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, these films came three years after Desai's last film "Roti" (1974). While all four films were hits, "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977) became a cult classic and established Manmohan Desai as Bollywood's premier film director.[1][2][3][4]
  • The famous scene in "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977) in which Amitabh Bachchan applied band-aids on a mirror was shot in director Manmohan Desai's absence. Desai was busy shooting for this film at the time on another floor of the same studio.[5][6]
  • Many of this film's characters were named after the actors who played them - Amit for Amitabh, Shabbo for Shaban Azmi, Neetu for Neetu Singh, Dev for Dev Kumar and Shamsher for Shammi Kapoor.
