Trivia

    Album

  • The film was a long time in the making. Its original script was discarded after Rajkumar Hirani was told that it resembled Christopher Nolan's "Inception" (2010). Hirani and Abhijat Joshi had to come up with a completely different script after that. The film also went through a couple of title changes during its making - from "Ek Tha Talli" to "Talli" to its eventual title.[1]
  • The film was critically acclaimed, won many awards, and was a big success at the box office. It went on to become one of the highest grossing Hindi films of all time. This was despite the fact that it drew criticism from various Hindu organizations as well as public intellectuals. Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal protested against the film's screening in various cities. They claimed that the film had insulted Hindu gods and hurt the community's sentiments. They even vandalised some theatres screening it. The film had faced protests even when it was under production. In Delhi, an FIR was lodged against Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir Khan, and others when locals objected to the shooting of a scene in which an actor dressed as Lord Shiva was pulling a rickshaw carrying two women in burqas. Criticism for the film also came from public intellectuals. Novelist Amish Tripathi and writer, activist Madhu Kishwar published articles arguing that the film had picked on Hinduism and idol-worship unfairly and that it had an "anti-Hindu undertone".[2][3][4][5][6]
  • One of the film's posters, featuring a naked Aamir Khan with a radio covering his crotch, was criticised as being vulgar. Calls were made to withdraw these posters. Krishna Hegde, a Congress MLA staged a unique protest by dressing up Aamir's cut-out from the poster. A petition was filed to ban the film on the grounds that the poster "promoted obscenity and hurt religious sentiments". The Supreme Court dismissed the petition saying that the poster did not violate any constitutional and legal provision.[7][8]
  • Ranbir Kapoor made a cameo appearance in the film's climax.

    Song

  • Chaar Kadam - The song was shot entirely in Bruges, Belgium. This was the first Hindi film to be shot in the city.
