Trivia

    Album

  • R.D. Burman ended up singing most of the songs in this film himself. This was because Kishore Kumar had refused to sing for Amitabha Bachchan due to a tiff between them which arose when Amitabh refused to play a role in Kishore Kumar's film "Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein" (1990).[1]
  • The friendship of Amitabh Bachchan's son, Abhishek Bachchan, and producer, director Ramesh Behl's son, Goldie Behl began during the shooting of this film, when they were about 7 years old. Their fathers had apparently banned them from the film's sets after they had broken a prop. They had vowed then that they would make a film together and ban their parents from its set! As it turned out, they did work together many years later in Goldie Behl's directorial debut, "Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai" (2001). Abhishek Bachchan also played the lead role in Goldie Behl's next film "Drona" (2008).[2][3][4]
  • The shooting of this film had to be suspended when Amitabh Bachchan got injured while shooting for the film "Coolie" (1983). The film was completed after he had recovered.[5]

    Song

  • Tu Maike Mat Jaiyo - R.D. Burman did a riff on his father's song, "Sun Mere Bandhu Re" ("Sujata", 1959), with the line "Suno mere lambu re..." in it. The "lambu" in this line referred to Amitabh Bachchan who played the lead role in the film and also sang this song.[6]
