Trivia

    Album

  • This was Manoj Kumar's first film as a producer. He launched his production house Vishal International Productions with this film. The company was named after his son.
  • Kalyanji - Anandji recorded a song, "Chalo Bhaag Chalen Poorab Ki Or", for this film but it was not included in the film or its audio release. It was included in the film "Kalyug Aur Ramayan" (1987) more than a decade later.[1]
  • This was lyricist Santosh Anand's debut Hindi film.
  • It was alleged that the film "Namastey London" (2007) was inspired by this film but its director Vipul Amrutlal Shah denied the charge. According to Akshay Kumar, the film was based on his friend's true story, which he had related to Shah.[2]
  • The film made use of two old Hindi film songs in a scene in which Madan Puri's character plays them on a record - "Baba Man Ki Aankhen Khol" ("Dhoop Chhaon", 1935) and "Babul Mora Naihar Chhooto Hi Jaye" ("Street Singer", 1938). The film opened with a message acknowledging the permissions granted for the reuse of these songs - "Our thanks are due to the following - HMV for permitting us to use Late K.C. Dey's song, Shri Dilip Sircar for permitting us to use the songs of Late K.L. Saigal and Late K.C. Dey".[3][4]

    Song

  • Raghupati Raghav Rajaram - Ram Dhun - The song's lyrics were adapted from a bhajan originally written by Lakshmanacharya and popularised later, with modified lyrics, by Mahatma Gandhi.
