Trivia

    Album

  • Pritam was announced as the music director of this film and was even credited in its trailer. However, when the producers decided to include in the film an existing song recreated by another composer, he walked out of it. He asked the producers to let his production company JAM8 complete its music and to remove his name from the music credits. The producers accepted Pritam's proposal and called it an "amicable decision".[1]
  • This was producer Dinesh Vijan's directorial debut.
  • Geetha Arts filed a case of copyright infringement against the makers of this film claiming that it was copied from their Telugu film "Magadheera" (2009). The claim was made on the basis of the film's trailer. Producer, director Dinesh Vijan asserted that his film was not plagiarised. He offered to screen it for the litigants but they declined. Eventually, however, Geetha Arts withdrew their case. The makers of this film claimed that this was evidence that their film was original. Geetha Arts, on the other hand, maintained that they were withdrawing the case so that the matter could be settled out of court.[2]
  • The film was in the making for some time. It was written with Alia Bhatt in mind as the female lead. However, the actress opted out in 2015 saying that she was busy with many other projects. There were rumours at the time that the film would be shelved but Kriti Sanon was eventually brought in to replace Alia.[3]

    Song

  • Raabta - The song borrowed a few lines and a portion of the tune of a song composed by Pritam for the film "Agent Vinod" (2012). The original song also gave this film its title.[4]
  • Raabta - Deepika Padukone made a cameo appearance in the film for this song.
  • Raabta - This was singer Nikhita Gandhi's first original Hindi film song. She had previously debuted with a song in the Hindi-dubbed version of the Tamil film "I" (2015).[5]
  • Main Tera Boyfriend - Punjabi artist J Star accused T-Series of plagiarising his song "Na Na Na Na" for this film song. The label rejected the allegation saying that the song was a re-created version of a non-film song it had released in 2007 titled "Girl Friend Boy Friend".[6][7][8]
