Trivia

    Album

  • This was actress Rani Mukerji's debut Hindi film. She was credited as Ranee in the film. This was also the debut of the film's male lead, actor Amjad Khan's son, Shadaab Khan.
  • This film was shot in Gangtok, Sikkim, where Rani Mukherjee was shooting her first Bengali film "Biyer Phool" (1996) at the time. "Biyer Phool" was directed by Rani's father, Ram Mukherjee. She was paired in the film with Prosenjit Chatterjee, the recently divorced husband of her aunt, Debasree Roy. While "Biyer Phool" was a big hit, her Hindi debut didn't work at the box office.[1]
  • The film's title probably came from the song with the same title from the film "Aah" (1953).[2]
  • It was based on an expression she had portrayed in this film that Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan recommended Rani Mukerji to Karan Johar for the film "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (1998). However, it also took a lot of convincing on Karan Johar's part to get Rani to play the role that had been rejected by eight actresses before she was approached.[3][4]
