Trivia

    Album

  • Kareena Kapoor, Asin, and Priyanka Chopra were being considered for this film's female lead role initially. Kareena approached Shah Rukh Khan at this time and insisted on doing the role. While pitching for the part, she also made it clear that she would not perform her own stunts in the film. Amused and impressed by her enthusiasm, the filmmakers decided to get her on board.[1]
  • Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth played a cameo role in this film. He appeared in the film as Chitti, the humanoid robot from his hit Tamil film "Enthiran" (2010). Chitti's sequence in the film was initially shot with a Rajinikanth double as the actor had fallen ill at the time. When Shah Rukh Khan contacted the star a few weeks before the release of the film, he made a trip to Mumbai for a day to shoot for his scenes despite his ill-health.[2][3]
  • Shah Rukh Khan approached his friends Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra to direct this film. He went with Anubhav Sinha after they declined his request. In a TV show with Preity Zinta, he called Johar and Chopra "lallu" for opting out of the film.[4]
  • The Censor Board had objected to some of the stunt scenes in the film. They had said that such scenes were problematic in a film targetting younger, impressionable audiences. Eventually, the Censor Board gave the film a 'U' certificate without any cuts on the condition that the film would include a disclaimer cautioning against attempts to recreate the stunts.[5]
  • There were speculations that this film was inspired by various Hollywood superhero films including "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991), "Iron Man" (2008), and "Tron: Legacy" (2010). Shah Rukh admitted that the film did draw from "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) but claimed that similarities with other films were simply because of elements that were common in superhero films.[6][7]
  • Senegalese-American artist Akon sang two songs in this film.
  • Amitabh Bachchan lent his voice for the video sequence in the film that introduced the game featuring the film's protagonist.

    Song

  • Dildaara (Stand By Me) - This song's bassline and chorus were taken from Ben E. King's chart-topping song "Stand By Me" (1961).[8]
  • Raftaarein - This song was one of the few in which Vishal - Shekhar paid homage to R.D. Burman. Various elements in the song, including its rhythm, the trumpets and the vocals, were inspired by R.D. Burman's music.
