Album

• This was the sequel to "Rock On" (2008). It had many cast and crew members from the original film, including writers Pubali Chaudhuri and Abhishek Kapoor, actors Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai, and Shahana Goswami, music director Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy, and lyricist Javed Akhtar. Shujaat Saudagar replaced Abhishek Kapoor to make his directorial debut.[1]
• Many musicians made cameo appearances in the film as themselves. Among others, this included Salim Merchant, Sunidhi Chauhan, Warren Mendonsa, Sheldon D'Silva, Usha Uthup, Kit Shangpliang, Pynsuklin Syiemiong, and members of the band Pentagram, Vishal Dadlani, Papal Mane, Randolph Correia, and Shiraz Bhattacharya.
• The film was many years in the making. It took three years just to finalise its script. A decision was made to set the film in the North-East after many stories of discrimination and violence against people from the region were reported in the media. Himachal Pradesh was considered initially, but based on actor Purab Kohli's recommendation, the filmmakers decided on Shillong, Meghalaya, known as the Rock Capital of India.[2]
• The film encountered an unexpected challenge when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced banknote demonetisation to curb black money on November 8, 2016, three days before its release. This move resulted in Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes becoming invalid. Fearing that this would impact box office sales, the makers of the film announced tie-ups with the theatre chain PVR Cinemas and the digital payment service Paytm to purchase tickets of the film online without paying any convenience fee.[3]

Song

• Hoi Kiw / Chalo Chalo - The song featured singer Usha Uthup and the members of the Meghalaya-based band Summersault, including Kit Shangpliang and Pynsuklin Syiemiong, on the screen.
• Rock On Revisited - This was the recreated version of the title song of "Rock On" (2008). While the original song was a Farhan Akhtar solo, this was a duet featuring Shraddha Kapoor with him. The film album was published by Zee Music Company, whereas this song was released by T-Series as a single.[4]
