Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on a Bengali film of the same name released in 1981. The Bengali film was also remade in Telugu as "Vijetha" (1985), in Kannada as "Karna" (1986) and in Malayalam as "Chekkeranoru Chilla" (1986).
  • This was one of the few films in which filmmaker Anil Ganguly featured his children Vijay Ganguly and Rupali Ganguly. While shooting a scene with Vijay Ganguly, the director got frustrated when he couldn't remember his lines. It was Anil Kapoor who stepped in then to calm frayed nerves and helped complete the shoot.[1]

    Song

  • Yaar Bina Chain Kahaan Re - Almost three decades after he recorded this song, Bappi Lahiri recreated it for the film "Main Aur Mr. Riight" (2014). The song was also recreated by Tanishk Bagchi for the film "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan" (2020).[2][3]
  • Yaar Bina Chain Kahaan Re - Music director M. Ranga Rao reused the tune of this song for the Kannada film song "Preethiye Nannusiru" ("Karna", 1986). Portions of its prelude and interludes were also used by Chakravarthy in the Telugu film song "Six O Clock" ("Vijetha", 1985). The Kannada and Telugu songs were sung by the same singers - S.P. Balasubramaniam and S. Janaki. Interestingly, S. Janaki also sang the original Hindi film song.[4][5]
