Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story "White Nights". While Ranbir Kapoor starred in this film, his grandfather Raj Kapoor had previously played the titular role in another adaptation of "White Nights" - "Chhalia" (1960). The film "Ahista Ahista" (2006) was also adapted from the same story.[1][2]
  • This was the debut film of the film's leading pair, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor.
  • This was actress Zohra Sehgal's last released film. She passed away in 2014.
  • Begum Para, the actress who was active in the 1940s and 1950s, made a comeback with this film. This was her last film before her death in 2008.[3][4]
  • Actress Sonam Kapoor weighed more than 85 kgs before this film. She lost 35 kgs by the time shooting started for this film.
  • This film, produced by the Indian arm of Sony Pictures, SPE Films, was the first Indian film to be produced by a Hollywood studio.[5]
  • While shooting this film, Ranbir Kapoor asked his personal assistant Inder to call out "Heera hai Heera" to encourage him after every good shot. The phrase was inspired by a real-life incident Kapoor had experienced. A few years ago, he had gone to the theatres to watch the film "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" (2000) and witnessed a fan of Hrithik Roshan admiringly saying "Yeh to heera, hai heera" while looking at the actor's image on the film's poster. The incident made a big impact on Kapoor and he began using the phrase "Heera hai heera" to inspire himself. In the years to come, Kapoor's fans started associating the catchphrase with him. The film "Love Per Square Foot" (2018), in which he made a cameo appearance, used the phrase "Heer Hai Heera" alongside his name in its end credits.[6][7][8]

    Song

  • Thode Badmash - The was the first Hindi film song in which Sanjay Leela Bhansali was credited as music director. He is said to have had significant creative inputs in the music of his earlier films.
  • Yun Shabnami - Sanjay Leela Bhansali had gotten a version of this song recorded by Arijit Singh but it was not used. Had this song been released, it would have been Arijit's Hindi film debut.[9]
