Trivia

    Album

  • The film was a big hit. It was remade in Tamil as "Ninaithadhai Mudippavan" (1975) starring M.G. Ramachandran and in Kannada as "Mutthanna" (1994) starring Shiva Rajkumar. Its plot may have inspired the Hindi film "Amne Samne" (1982).[1]
  • The film's story was credited to director Manmohan Desai's wife Jeevanprabha Desai. She used the screen name J.M. Desai in the film. It was her first film as a writer.
  • This was the second film co-produced by Vinod Doshi and Rajni Desai after "Faulad" (1963). While "Faulad" (1963) was produced under the banner of Broadway Pictures, this film was produced by V.R. Films, whose name was derived from the first letters of the two producers' first names. For some reason, Rajni Desai's name was blacked out in the opening credits of both films and she was excluded from the films' promotional materials. Some of their earlier promotional materials, however, featured her name. It is not clear when this change was effected. Doshi and Desai parted ways after this film. Doshi produced "Black Mail" (1973) and "Nastik" (1983) and Desai produced "Roti" (1974).[2][3][4][5]

    Song

  • Kar Le Pyar Kar Le Aankhen Char Kar Le (Duniya Mein Pyar Ki Sabko Zaroorat Hai) - The saxophone solo in this song was played by Manohari Singh. According to him, it was a rare Hindi film song in which he played staccato notes on the saxophone.[6]
  • Yun Hi Tum Mujhse Baat Karti Ho - Kalyanji's son Viju Shah used this song as an inspiration for an alaap in his song "Pal Pal Soch Mein Aana Na" ("Tujhe Meri Kasam", 2003). K. Vijaya Bhaskar, the director of "Tujhe Meri Kasam" (2003), was a big fan of this song and had specifically requested Shah to compose something similar.[7][8]
