Trivia

    Album

  • This film was director Tapan Sinha and producer J.K. Kapur's remake of their own award-winning Bengali film "Sagina Mahato" (1970). The Bengali film was based on writer Rupadarshi's story inspired by real-life events. The film was dedicated to Hemen Ganguly who had co-produced the Bengali film with J.K. Kapur and committed suicide in the early 1970s. Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu played the lead roles in both the films.[1]
  • Dilip Kumar recommended Kadar Khan for a role in this film after he was impressed by his work in the play "Taash Ke Pattey", which Khan had written, directed and acted in.[2]
  • The opening credits and the closing scene of the film featured a short song sung by S.D. Burman titled "Chhote Chhote Sapne Hamaar". This song - the last released song in S.D. Burman's voice - was not included in the film's audio release. The song's tune and lines were adapted from the song "Chhoti Si Panchhi" from the Bengali film "Sagina Mahato" (1970) of which this film was a remake. The original song was composed by Tapan Sinha, sung by Anup Ghoshal and Aarti Mukherji, and written by Hemen Ganguly and Shyamal Gupta.[3]

    Song

  • Saala Main Toh Sahab Ban Gaya - The tune of this song was plagiarised from the Italian song "Chella Lla", which was first performed by Teddy Reno for the film "Toto, Peppino e la... malafemmina" (1956). The song, however, is best known for the version by Renato Carosone.[4]
