Trivia

    Album

  • According to Asha Parekh, she and Dharmendra were particularly effective in her death scene in this film because they were upset about the Income Tax Department's raids going on at their homes at the time![MR28]
  • This film was remade in Telugu as "Nindu Manishi" (1978).
  • Dharmendra liked this film's script so much that he asked Prakash Mehra for its rights in exchange for the rights of a script he had purchased from Salim - Javed - that of "Zanjeer" (1973). Prakash Mehra agreed but wanted Dharmendra to not only act in "Zanjeer" (1973) but also co-produce it. Dharmendra consented but additionally wanted Mehra to hand over another script he owned - for the film "Kahani Kismat Ki" (1973) - to Arjun Hingorani, the filmmaker who had given Dharmendra a break as an actor and was his mentor. Mehra liked the script of "Zanjeer" (1973) so much that he reluctantly conceded to make this exchange. As a result, Dharmendra did this film with Prakash Mehra and "Kahani Kismat Ki" (1973) with Arjun Hingorani. Dharmendra eventually backed out of "Zanjeer" (1973). There are various accounts of why he did so. In one interview, Prakash Mehra said that he parted ways with the actor amicably since he was very busy at the time and did not have the dates to shoot for "Zanjeer" (1973). However, according to another version of the event, Dharmendra pulled out of the film because his cousin had asked him not to work with Prakash Mehra. His cousin wanted retribution against Mehra after he had refused to direct a film her husband Ranjit Virk was producing.[1][2][3][4]

    Song

  • Bangle Ke Peeche Teri Beri Ke Neeche (Kaanta Laga) - Percussionist Homi Mullan played the African instrument calabash in this song.[5]
  • Jaan-E-Jaanan Jao Kal Phir Aana - R.D. Burman used variations of the tune of this song's mukhda in two other songs - "Dekho Hum Donon Ki Yaari" ("Double Cross", 1973) and "Lalla Allah Tera Nigehbaan" ("Abdullah", 1979).[6][7]
  • Jaan-E-Jaanan Jao Kal Phir Aana - It appears that Anu Malik adapted the tunes of two R.D. Burman songs for the song "Babli Badmaash" ("Shootout At Wadala", 2013) - this song and "Lehra Ke Aaya Hai Jhonka Bahaar Ka" ("Waris", 1969), sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi.[8][9]
