• K.A. Abbas adapted his own story, "One Thousand Nights on a Bed of Stones" (1957), for this film.
• This was music director J.P. Kaushik's debut Hindi film. The film featured four songs sung by actor Manmohan Krishna but they were not issued on music records. It appears that Kaushik replaced Anil Biswas, who had already composed two songs for the film. Interestingly, K.A. Abbas had previously refused to give J.P. Kaushik work saying that he would work only with Anil Biswas.[1]
• When K.A. Abbas met with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to collect the National Film Award for Best Feature Film for this film, the Prime Minister suggested that he make a film for children. Consequently, his next production was a children's film, "Hamara Ghar" (1964).[2][3]
• Actor Manmohan Krishna, who had previously sung for films in the 1940s and 1950s, returned to playback singing for this film after about a decade. This was his last film as a playback singer.
