Trivia

    Album

  • This film was adapted for the Tamil film "Osai" (1984).
  • Jaya Bhaduri had a bad experience shooting with Manoj Kumar in this film and decided to never work with him again. Her husband Amitabh Bachchan worked with Manoj Kumar subsequently for "Roti Kapada Aur Makaan" (1974) - it was Bachchan's only film with him.[1][2]
  • Poet Inderjeet Singh Tulsi debuted as a lyricist in this Hindi film.
  • In 1976, Manoj Kumar was asked by the I&B Ministry to direct a pro-Emergency film written by Amrita Pritam. When he refused to make the documentary, the ministry released this film on Doordarshan a few days before it was due for a repeat theatrical release. According to Manoj Kumar, Doordarshan was able to do so because of an Emergency rule that allowed it to telecast any Indian film two weeks after its theatrical release. The ministry did the same with his film "Dus Numbri" (1976) as well. Manoj Kumar, who had suffered huge losses due to this, had filed a case and eventually won it after the Janata Party came to power.[3][4][5]

    Song

  • Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai - I - Although an accomplished violinist himself, Pyarelal did not play the violin solo in this song due to his busy schedule. This iconic violin solo was played by Jerry Fernandes.[6]
  • Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai - I - Although Nanda appeared in just a short cameo in the film, this popular song she featured in gained her a lot of attention. Interestingly, Nanda wasn't the first choice for the role. Manoj Kumar had first approached Sharmila Tagore and Smita Patil - who was a newscaster at Doordarshan at the time - and had turned to Nanda only when they had declined.[MR10]
