This was Sanjiv Jaiswal's directorial debut. He also wrote and produced the film.
Hindu organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal demanded a ban on this film. They said that the film would cause ill-will between Hindu castes and foment discord.[1]
Song
Jai Jai Bhim - P.L. Punia, a senior Congress leader and the Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, launched the film's music. He described this song as a "Dalit anthem" during the launch. Punia's participation in the event was seen as the Congress party's attempt to woo Dalit voters ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.[2]
