• This film was not related in any way to the similarly titled "Singh Is Kinng" (2008) - another film in which Akshay Kumar played a Sardar. The film may have been an uncredited remake of the Korean film "My Wife Is a Gangster 3" (2006).[1]
• The film's trailer earned the ire of various Sikh groups. It showed the Golden Temple, bhangra, kabaddi, whisky, and chicken as the five most famous things of Punjab. The Akal Takht criticised the filmmakers for equating the holiest of Sikh gurudwaras with whisky and chicken. They also objected to scenes that showed the Sikh kada and turban being used as weapons. A revised version of the trailer was released which did not show the Golden Temple. The Censor Board removed the scenes that had offended the Sikh community and gave the film a 'U/A' rating.[2][3]
• Shashi Kapoor's son Kunal Kapoor made a comeback to film acting after three decades. His last released film before this was "Trikal" (1985).[4]

Song

• Tung Tung Baje - This song was originally recorded by Sneha Khanwalkar for the first season of the TV show "MTV Sound Trippin" (2012). While the original version was sung by the Nooran Sisters, the film version included Diljit Dosanjh's vocals as well.
• Tung Tung Baje - Nooran Sisters, who sang the song, also appeared on the screen for it.
