- This film was loosely based on the Hong Kong film "Miracles" (1989) directed by Jackie Chan. "Miracles" (1989) itself was adapted from the American film "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961), which was director Frank Capra's remake of his own film "Lady for a Day" (1933). The Hindi film "Loafer" (1972) was also adapted from "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961).[1]
- There were news reports that some Sikh groups had expressed concerns about the representation of Sikhs in the film. The film-makers had then screened the film for some prominent members of the Sikh community and incorporated some of their suggestions in the film.[2]
- This was the first film produced by Akshay Kumar's banner Hari Om Entertainment Company.
- The film was not related in any way to the similarly titled "Singh Is Bliing" (2015) - another film in which Akshay Kumar played a Sardar.[3]
