Trivia

    Album

  • This film was director Bharathi Raja's remake of his Tamil debut film "16 Vayathinile" (1977), starring Kamal Haasan, Sridevi and Rajinikanth. Sridevi played the same role in both films. While the Tamil film was a big hit, this remake did not do well.
  • This was actress Sridevi's first Hindi film in a lead role. Her credit in the film's opening credits read "Introducing Sweet Sixteen Shri Devi". She had debuted earlier as a child artist in the film "Rani Mera Nam" (1972). However, the actress failed to make an impact in this film. She had to wait for five more years for her breakthrough Hindi film - "Himmatwala" (1983).[1][2]
  • The producer alleged that the distributors meted out step-motherly treatment to the film since it was made on a small budget. The film wasn't publicised enough and was given a morning show release in only one cinema in Bombay.[3]

    Song

  • Goriya Ho Ho Goriya - This is a uniquely structured Hindi film song in which the mukhda was sung by the chorus singers and not its lead singers.
