Trivia

    Album

  • A lot of this film was shot on the premises of the Blind Relief Association, a school for the visually impaired in Delhi. Naseeruddin Shah's character in the film was modelled on the school's principal, Ajai Kumar Mittal.
  • This was filmmaker Sai Paranjpye's first feature film in Hindi. She had previously directed a number of children's films and documentaries.
  • This film was delayed due to the budget constraints producer Basu Bhattacharya placed on its making. This annoyed Sai Pranjpye so much that she named the unscrupulous character played by Farooque Shaikh in her next film, "Katha" (1983), Vasu, after him.[1]
  • This was a rare film in which all the songs were sung by just one singer - Sulakshana Pandit in this case.
  • This film was promoted as the first Hindi feature film to be written and directed by a woman.[2]

    Song

  • Concert Sarod (Instrumental) - Ustad Amjad Ali Khan not only played this sarod instrumental piece but also appeared in the film performing it.
