Trivia

    Album

  • Subhash Ghai chose Aishwarya Rai for the lead role in this film even though he had a contract with Mahima Chaudhry which required her to work in three Mukta Arts films in five years. Despite Ghai's explanations for his decision, Mahima was very upset at not having been selected for this film. According to Ghai, she retaliated by reneging on another clause of the contract - to donate 35% of her earnings from stage shows and ads to Mukta Arts Welfare Trust. Ghai had then sued Mahima Chaudhry for violating their contract.[1]
  • Coca Cola's product placement in this film broke new ground in marketing by integrating Coke into the film's storyline.[2]

    Song

  • Ishq Bina Kya Jeena Yaaron - This song was originally recorded by A.R. Rahman for the shelved film "Shikhar". Subhash Ghai had planned to make this war film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Jackie Shroff, after "Trimurti" (1995). When "Trimurti" (1995) flopped, Ghai decided to put "Shikhar" on hold and make a smaller film instead. The result was "Pardes" (1997). Ghai never went back to "Shikhar" but ended up using this song from it in this film.[3][4][5]
  • Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaye - Actor Shahid Kapoor had joined Shiamak Davar's Dance Institute when he was around 15 years old and had won the best dancer award when he had graduated from it. Shiamak Davar had then used Shahid as a supporting dancer in two Hindi film songs choreographed by him - this song and "Le Gayi Le Gayi" ("Dil To Pagal Hai", 1997).[6][7]
  • Ramta Jogi - The tune of the song's mukhda inspired the hook line of the song "Total Talli" ("Loveshhuda", 2016). However, this song and its artists were not credited in the 2016 song. Both film albums were published by Tips.[8]
  • Kya Dekh Rahe Ho Tum - This song was the debut Hindi film song of singers Madhushree, Vaishali Samant and Shoma Bannerjee.
  • Kya Dekh Rahe Ho Tum - This song was not part of the film's audio cassettes. It was only included in the CD release.
