Trivia

    Album

  • The film paid homage to Pallavi Purkayastha, a lawyer who was found murdered at her home in August 2012. It opened with an image of hers along with the message "You live in our memories". Pallavi was part of the film's crew and was listed in the end credits as Head of Legal.[1]
  • Some so-called men's rights groups called for a boycott of the film. This was done as a protest against Aamir Khan who, according to them, was depicting men in poor light in his TV show Satyameva Jayate.[2]
  • The film's lead role was offered to Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan before it came to Aamir Khan. Salman Khan also claimed that the film was offered to him.[3][4][5]
  • The twist in the film's climax was inspired by a real-life experience involving writer Zoya Akhtar.[6]

    Song

  • Jee Le Zara - Ram Sampath had originally composed this song about four years ago for an album titled "Raat/Din". The album was to be recorded by Sona Mohapatra. It appears that the album was not released but a few songs from it were released as singles. Javed Akhtar retained the hook lyrics of the original song written by Ram Sampath but wrote new lyrics for the remaining song.[7]
